Julie has an evolving interest in craft and art, beginning over forty years ago.
She always made time for knitting, weaving, printing on silk and paper, painting in watercolors, acrylics, and oils between raising three children and being employed in her profession, most recently as a Health Educator and Community Clinical Consultant with Disability Services.
Her painting style developed from the many art pieces she absorbed in her observations visiting galleries, museums and exhibitions in Australia, England, Europe, Scandinavia, Canada, and America.
Julie has participated and studied in art classes regularly over the years, including a year at Flinders University, and with other art schools and teachers. She has had shared exhibitions with her husband, and with her 4 sisters during the South Australian Living Art events held annually until 2021. Julie also enjoys drawing in pen and ink, and pastels.
Over the past decade, Julie’s artistic explorations expanded due to participating in several courses to create glass art beads. She combines her beads with precious metal clay pieces, semi-precious and natural minerals in the creation of her necklaces and earrings. In using these ranges of materials, her jewellery has appealed through complementing the diversity in many pieces by adding another dimension.
Always attracted by colour, form and emotions expressed in the many impressive art works she viewed during her extensive travels, she is inspired to add her own creative story through her jewellery and paintings.
